PNNL and LanzaTech reach milestone for producing biofuels from CO derived alcohols

Posted by ICEF Secretariat August 29, 2016

PNNL and industry-partner LanzaTech are working together to convert alcohols derived from captured carbon monoxide(CO), a by-product in the production of steel, into synthetic paraffinic kerosene, a non-fossil-based jet fuel. The team achieved a milestone, producing 5 gallons of jet fuel in the lab, which allows them to scale up the production and move to the next stage of testing.
