Researchers found a way to store CO2 in volcanic rock

An international team of researchers have found a way for CO2 to rapidly form carbonate minerals, by injecting CO2 into the volcanic rock under Iceland. This could potentially be a cheaper and more secure way to store CO2 underground, and it could also improve public acceptance of CCS. As the next step, the team is planning to scale up the project.
